Open Water Certification (SSI)

Get your Open Water certification through Reef Riders. The certification is for life, and can be completed in 3 days in the beautiful and clear water of Cozumel. We recommend doing the e-learning (this is the least expensive option as well). This is the first level of recreational scuba diving. Cost includes e-learning materials, instructor, equipment, and open water dives. The e-learning must be completed prior to starting the in-person instruction.

Time requirement: 3 days (4 hour sessions)

Certification can be completed in 2 days for someone really comfortable in the water and ocean, but ideally you should plan for 3 days. Completing the e-learning options beforehand is helpful.

Cost includes e-learning materials, instructor, equipment, and open water dives. You will complete confined water dives and  4 open water dives as part of your certification. A typical schedule looks like:

Day 1: Introduction, review of dive theory, swim test, skills training, equipment training, and confined water dives. Typical start time is 9:00 am.

Day 2: Complete remaining skills. 2 dives will be performed from a beach entry. Typical start time is 9:00 am.

Day 3: 2 dives will be performed from our boat at appropriate dive sites. Typical start time is 8:30 am.
