Advanced Adventurer (SSI)

$430.00

The Advanced Open Water course is designed to improve your underwater knowledge and skills. This course will help you become a better diver and a safer diver. You will have five dives, two are mandatory (deep and navigation), the other three elective dive specialties are up to you and your instructor to decide.

Requisites: Open Water certification.

Duration: 2-3 days

Popular elective dives (choose 3):

  1. Peak Performance Buoyancy. Most instructors will recommend this dive to help you on your breathing, buoyancy, positioning, and finning techniques. Learn to move around with more ease under water, improving your buoyancy, and in turn help you improve your air consumption (longer dives!).
  2. Night. Night diving works the same as a day dive, but you have a torch (flashlight) guiding your way. A whole different category of sea life are much more active at night (crabs, shrimp, eels, octopus, squid, and much more).
  3. Wreck. Under water wrecks are thrilling and exciting to see. Have you ever been curious to see an old ship, plane, pier, or vehicle that sunk beneath the surface?
  4. Drift. Cozumel has different dive sites with varying degrees of current. Learn how to identify which direction a current is moving, how to position yourself, and how to plan your dive based on that current. This dive should help you become more comfortable and confident when diving in currents.
  5. Fish Identification. Fish ID is a great introduction to understanding the life you see under the water. Learn about different fish families and how to tell them apart. Learn about the symbiotic relationships found under the water. Fish ID can help you understand the best places to search for different kinds of animals and the best way to find them (sea horses anyone?).
  6. Photography. Learn how to take better underwater images. Learn about the different kinds of cameras and waterproof housings–the pros and cons of each.
