Tour Tips

We are excited to make a great day with you. Whether you are diving or snorkeling with Reef Riders here are some tips to help you day go fantasticly!

  • This map will bring you right to our in Asipona marina: https://reefriders.net/boat
  • Sign your release forms prior to coming to the tour: https://reefriders.net/forms
  • There are bathrooms at the marina, but no bathrooms on the boat. #1 while you are in the ocean. #2 will be trickier 😉
  • Most importantly, bring and wear rash guards, sun coverings, and a towel. On cloudy or rainy days the moving boat will feel cool after being in the water. A towel, or better yet a wind breaker, is a good idea.
  • Due to marine park restrictions local authorities do not allow sunscreen. If sunscreen must be used please apply reef safe sunscreen long before getting to the boat. The boat is shaded but we want you to enjoy a non-sun burned experience!
  • If arriving to Cozumel via ferry, for morning trips you must be on the 7:30am ferry (currently served by Xailing). That is the only morning ferry time that will get you to us in time for the tour. Ferry crossing is 45 minutes, plus taxi time. Arrive 20 minutes early for the ferry departure.
  • If arriving via cruise ship please compare your cruise ship time with Cozumel local time. It may be different. All tours are listed in Cozumel local time. Morning tours return at 12:30pm. Afternoon tours return at 5:30pm. An hour window to get to your ship is plenty of time to get from the marina to the cruise terminal (only minutes away).
  • Taxis are readily available at all ferry terminals, cruise terminals, and the marina to return you wherever you need to go. Taxis take USD cash and pesos.
  • We have a tour tips specifically tailored to divers: https://reefriders.net/frequent-wonderings/
  • We hope you absolutely enjoy the experience we provide, and above all you will want to do it again. Just like all things tourism related, tips are part of what a person working in tourism hopes to add to their pay. A good tip is 15-20%. A great tip is anything above that. Tips are shared equally between the guides and boat staff. No need to tip separately.

  • Lastly, please arrive 10 minutes prior to tour time to try on fins and gear. Thank you! 🙂
